General scheme features

 

Spandoc Time Bank (STB) provides 2-week observership stays at Rushey Green Time bank in London for healthcare or social care professionals, or volunteers who wish to learn about timebanking for any reason including personal or professional interest or the intention to set up new time banks in their area of origin.

 

Essential features of the scheme area

  • The visitor is welcomed by the Time Bank Manager, Mr Philippe Granger, who designs and supervises their stay.
  • Visitors may come from anywhere in the world, but it is essential that they have a good command of the English language. However, for visitors whose mother tongue is not English, it may be possible to find a  bilingual Mentor within the time bank members as an additional support.
  • The visitor receives tutorials and participates in RGTB activities as sketched below. A more detailed programme is sent to the registered visitor nearer to their stay.
  • Tuition fees are paid to RGTB to contribute to its sustainability.
  • The scheme is served to the visitor as a pack together with high quality accommodation and daily transport including trips from and to the airport. 
  • The visitor joins the scheme by paying Spandoc Ltd a registration fee which covers all the above costs.

 

How will the observer learn

  • Through a comprehensive programme of activities with staff and members 
  • Going along to events and time banking exchanges 
  • Interviewing and visiting members of the time bank
  • Meetings and interviews with health professionals at the Rushey Green Group Practice
  • Visits to other time banks
  • Hands-on practice with the systems and administration of the time bank 
  • Reflection and one-to-one tuition with staff
