For other medical specialties
Whilst we advise family doctors to study Primary Care English (PCE), we would advise all doctors of any specialty to read it. This is because literature, patients and colleagues will often refer to medical matters slightly beyond your specialty – and assume you will understand. As a general knowledge of medicine is essential for all specialists, a general knowledge of medical English is essential too.
By the time you finish reading PCE, it will not be long before your own specialty´s medical English book is ready. If you would like us to keep you informed about this, please Contact us.
Medical English books for other specialties are on their way. Their main features are:
- They are written by doctors, which ensures that they contain what doctors really need, in a format that suits them best.
- These doctors are a team of native and non-native English speakers who work or have worked in English-speaking countries. Doctors who have gone through the process of learning medical English are ideally suited to select what you need to learn and to help you do it efficiently avoiding common mistakes.
- There are different books for different medical specialties, written by specialist doctors. This ensures that no time is wasted studying aspects of medical English of little relevance to your specialty, and that you do not miss important aspects of the language you really need to learn.
If you would like to participate in the series, by contributing to books for any specialty, please do not hesitate to Contact us. We will give you thorough guidance, and we are sure you will find it a gratifying experience. At Spandoc, as we are authors ourselves, we have a strong author-friendly ethos and offer much better conditions and rewards than traditional editorials. Drop us a line - you are very welcome!
